Psychedelic Sounds for Vital by Kythera Vol.3
Hi!
Vol.3 is here!
This Vital Pack comes with 70 FX presets including macro controls.
I labeled them "FX" but all presets in here are somewhat in between FX style patching and leads.
No static tones though.
All patches are organically and chaotically evolving as you twist the macros.
Theese are ment to be recorded in a long take.
Twist fiddle and turn the macros by ear, other than the release control its not important what they are - theese are ment to be PLAYED.
So in this regard, same as with the previous ones.
Although you can do with them whatever you want, and I have heard great results by people using them in "object based"
manually arranged and automated MIDI clips - this is not they way I work with them.
All presets are designed with random MIDI from Autoplay with random gate length.
You can use Rhythmizer as well, or similiar M4L approaches.
Just that I have mentioned it, using them in this "manual" way is happy accident territory.
I jam out theese patches while playing the macros and appyling post fx processing in my recording chain.
Usually they are always followed with massive processing through one or two Infiltrator units.
I also monitor them with my custom ping pong delay send which has some FFT sidechaining going on.
(Just throw a delay on to make it flooow!)
I usually use the delay inside Vital for modulated FX variations in the patch.
The static classic ping pong I apply via a send and I NEVER record with it straight from the synth.
(I really dont get why so many packs include this, makes no sense to me if you want to arrange and edit this stuff)

In short again, if you want to understand how I use them:
Feed them with random MIDI, play with the macros on your MIDI controller, turn your favorite FX on and off, feel them, listen and have fun.
Record long takes into another channel and arrange the best bits of your takes.
Make sure to name your MIDI clips with the presets so you can remember the ones you like.
Theese patches are all built quite similiar in a way, I try to keep everything in sweetspots to have most of the content of the patch usable, but they are also on purpose chaotic and not specifically labeled on the macros.
Most macros just say PLAY.
I use my analytic rational thinking brain while building them, when I record and play them I want to feel and not think too much.
This is my approach, my way.
You dont have to like it or even understand it.
But the point is, I build theese presets for my own to use.
Its my way of exploring synthesis, and theese are the sounds I want to use from softsynths right now.
You wont find any basses in there, I dont make my bass with Vital.
You wont find any atmospheres in there, I dont make them with synths mostly.
You wont find any presets in there I just build in the pack to sell it.
You will find in there the sounds from my previous album "Fluxliner" and you will find the sounds from my next album as well.
In comparison to Vol.1 and Vol.2 theese presets rely more on the modulation itself to get the tones rather than using complex wavetables.
The best patches in there are just made with Saws and Sines.
My taste and ideals have changed quite a bit since the first pack.
I left twilight territory and am going more into the direction of dark psy sound design.
This preset pack is another documentation of my journey through synthesis.
I like to develop and explore ideas with Vital which I then convert to Eurorack, which became my home and most familiar platform over the years now.
